About Bauhinia Lodge

Rooted in Care, Built Around People

Bauhinia Lodge was created to be a genuine home β€” not simply a service. We believe that later life deserves the same warmth, attention, and dignity as any other chapter.

Our Story

How Bauhinia Lodge Came to Be

Bauhinia Lodge opened its doors in Causeway Bay in 2009, founded by a small group of people who had each seen, firsthand, how difficult it can be for elderly adults to find a living arrangement that felt truly like home. They had walked relatives through institutions that were competent but cold, and neighbourhoods that moved too fast for someone who needed steadiness.

They wanted something smaller. Something where every member of staff would know every resident by name. Where the morning routine mattered as much as the meal plan. Where a preference for dim sum on a Sunday could actually happen.

That idea became Bauhinia Lodge β€” named after Hong Kong's own flower, and shaped around the belief that care is most meaningful when it is personal and unhurried.

Our Mission

To offer elderly adults in Hong Kong a residential home where they are known, respected, and comfortable β€” a place shaped around people rather than procedures.

Our Values

  • Dignity in everyday life
  • Personal relationships over institutional process
  • Honesty and transparency with families
  • Quiet, attentive presence β€” not intrusion
  • Patience as a form of respect

The People Here

How We Work

Our Standards and Approach

Good residential care is built on consistency, honesty, and the willingness to listen. These are the principles we bring to every day at Bauhinia Lodge.

Residential Safety

All areas of the home are regularly assessed for safety. Flooring, lighting, bathing facilities, and common areas are maintained to reduce risk and support confident movement.

Personalised Support Plans

Each resident's preferences, daily habits, and support needs are noted from day one and revisited regularly. We adapt quietly as circumstances change.

Privacy and Dignity

Personal information is handled with care and shared only with those who need it. Residents' private space and personal routines are always respected.

Staff Continuity

We keep our team stable and our numbers manageable so that residents encounter familiar faces day after day β€” a small detail that makes a meaningful difference.

Open Family Communication

Families are welcome to call, visit, and ask questions. We share honest observations and raise concerns early β€” before small things become larger ones.

Food and Nutrition

Menus are planned with seasonal and local ingredients in mind. Resident preferences and dietary considerations are noted and accommodated as a matter of course.

Residential Care in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Bauhinia Lodge operates as a small, community-focused residential home in Causeway Bay, one of Hong Kong's most accessible and well-connected districts. Our location on Hing Fat Street places us within comfortable reach of Victoria Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods β€” places where residents can walk, breathe, and feel connected to the city they know.

We accept residents on a permanent basis, through short-term Transition Stays, and as participants in our Walking and Wellness programme. Each arrangement is approached with the same level of personal care β€” attentive staff, honest communication with families, and a home environment shaped around the individual, not an administrative system.

Elderly adults living at Bauhinia Lodge are not in a facility β€” they are at home. That distinction shapes everything we do, from the way meals are served to the way we answer the telephone. We hope you will come and see for yourself what daily life here looks like.

Come and See the Home

We welcome visits from families and prospective residents. There is no better way to understand what life at Bauhinia Lodge is like than to walk through the door and spend some time here.
